Our Anniversary......

Our 6th anniversary.....celebrated (with the children) at Billy Bombers (CS). The girls 'feasted' on hotdog, fish & chips and more more more chips (that's yuwen). Overall, we had an enjoyable dinner. 6 years and 3 kids later, I think we are both still enjoying this marriage despite the the busier schedules and less time for each other...Happy Anniversary to us and many more to come!

Peer Pressure, Social Pressure?!

This week is the start of the 2nd semester of school. On the 1st day, Daddy sent yuqi & yuwen to class, as usual. The girls were excited to meet their friends and teachers again after 1 month's break. As Daddy told me later that day, Yuqi happily showed off her new hair cut to her teacher. Teacher had a new hair style too. As they stood discussing about their hair, another child came over to announce that he had gone to Thailand for a holiday!

Now, that got me thinking....has Yuqi already reach the stage in life where peer pressure is starting to show it's ugly head?! Is it alittle early at 5 years old?!

We didn't go travelling this hols. In fact all mummy & daddy did with them, was to spend a day at Science Centre... ;p We thought they would be happy as long as we made time to bring them somewhere special. They were happy and they had enjoyed themselves tremendously that day. As of now, the girls don't know/think much about travelling overseas except that Daddy goes to work in Taiwan and Malaysia occassionally. The last time we went, yuqi was only 2.5yrs old...I'm sure she wouldn't be able to remember much now... BUT with friends starting to compare what they did during the hols, will yuqi soon be asking me for travelling plans too?! Hmm.....

We are not against bringing the kids on trips. In reality, I think it'll do them good to see beyond our modern, safe, clean, peaceful, etc little island. Only that, Daddy's been very tied up with work and can't really afford time off @ the moment. Guess we'll try to plan something for later this year..... ;p

Art for my children

Art has always been one of my favourite subjects in school. I have dreamed of being an established designer, creating beautiful objects and charging exorbitant prices for them : ). This dream is shelved for now (let's not discuss it further)...however, I believe in instilling in my children a love for the arts in all forms. Hence the occasional visit to the theatre for children play and peformances as well as encouraging them to draw and paint.

Art, I feel, enriches a persons life. By encouraging the girls' exposure at an early age, I hope to instil in them an appreciation for the finer things in life and not just be caught in the daily rat race as they grow up....For a start now, I encourage yuqi & yuwen to draw what they had seen and done/enjoyed during our outings. They have so far enjoy putting the SESAME STREET show, trips to the beach, Science Centre, etc etc, on paper....no point insisting if they don't enjoy it.

Yuqi & yuwen are now taking classes on ploymer clay modelling which they love...I must admit that the teacher is very good in providing a fun, almost no-boundary environment for the children to create whatever their little hearts are set on. The classes are quite free and easy with no pressure to finish within a fixed timeframe and I absolutely adore the house where the class is being conducted. Here, the children are allowed to doodle, in chalk, on the floor & walls in the compound...free expression for the children.

Having said so much, mummy must be spending alot of time with the girls on their art activities?! Regrettably, I have not been doing so. It's the case of a working mum's dilemma for me again...limited time but tonnes of things to do (work things, kids thing, me things, etc)....bad excuse but reality! Will try to make more time.... ;p

Off to the Ball!

Yuwen received this set of Cinderella dress for her 3rd birthday and it proves to be a hit with both yuxuan & herself....

Father & child......

One of my favourite photo.

Depicts very well the tenderness that Daddy shows towards his girls.....

Picnic @ the beach

A bright & sunny morning spent at Pasir Ris beach...

We ran out of sunblock & were all burnt like roasted pigs. But we have loads of fun nontheless!

The children loves the beach but we don't have much time for it plus mummy is not exactly someone who likes getting burnt under the sun....we should do it more often though....Daddy's idea of an ideal picnic @ the beach is a pot of curry and french loaves to go with it. So OLD FASHION! and anyway, there's no one in our house that can cook curry worthy enough for such a picnic... Something to work on, perhaps, or maybe we'll settle for a simpler affair of sandwiches and fruits....

and now we present.......

....the little ladies....

YUQI is 5 this year... sweet, sentative. An even-tempered darling who throws an occasional tantrum. She loves watching typically boys cartoon like POWER RANGERS & such. She is also the self-appointed 'guardian' of the younger ones. Being the first born, she is the ultimate daddy's girl.

YUWEN is 3 years old... a young lady with a strong charactor. 'Enjoys' testing your patience and pushing the limits. More of a silent observer than a constant chatter when she's out of the house. Yuwen is typically girlish in her choice of toys and such...loves my jewellery and painting her nails... Like yuqi, she adores yuxuan and is protective of her.

YUXUAN, at 20 months old, is the baby in the family. She is also the "happy nut" who wears a sunshine smile all the time. Being the youngest, she is eager to be part of whatever the sisters are up to...Being the youngest also means that she gets spoilt by both sisters who simply adore her and let her get away with all sorts of mischief.

...there you have it! A very short intro of our girls...each one different but all holding a special place in our hearts...
