Genting! 11-14 Mar 2007
Fun, Fun, & More Fun! It's been more than 20 years since I went to Genting and this trip is quite an eye-opener for me as much as it is for the kids..... It's now a place for non-stop fun rides for the kids - indoor theme park, outdoor theme park and a indoor swimming pool. We had a wonderful time there during the March school holidays!

First day in Primary One
This is another of my long overdue entries. Yuqi has started Primary 1 for 10 weeks (10th week now). She is enjoying school and her new friends.... All's well except the occasional lost items (so far, a water bottle, purse, art items, homework...etc)
I am impressed by how independent kids nowadays are. On the 1st day of school, hardly any children cried or kicked a big fuss. There were of course a few quiet sobs and scared faces but most were quite brave and went about the next few days without much problems. Maybe they are well-seasoned (since kids start school pretty young nowadays)...
Yuqi was cool as cucumber!
It is heartwarming to see her in the same school uniform as I when I was that little. Even her class number was the same as mine.... Class 1E ! Though I don't quite remember how much fun I had in school (surely I enjoyed somewhat) but I hope she will gather lots of previous moments here over the next 6 years... : )
We are looking forward to a great year ahead with more fun and sweat...
Silent reading in the hall before assembly.
Going back to class.
Recess time....

YUQI is SIX!
Yuqi had been counting down to her 6 years old birthday party since Jul 06 when we decided to throw her a small party to celebrate her birthday with her friends from school.
The party was on 19 Aug (her actual birthday is on 21 Aug) and we invited all her classmates (but only a handful turned up) and some family and friends (of mummy) over to our place. Yuqi chose multi-coulour as the themet. 2 weeks before the BIG day, we a spent a whole morning shopping for party decor and stuff for the goodie bags. In addition to the colour theme, I used the number 6 as a sub-theme. The invitation cards were hand-drawn on colourful cards with the number 6 on the cover. The same design was used on the party packs as well. We used multi-coloured balloons as decor and bought colourful cutery for the kids. We also bought coulourful beaded necklaces for the girls (who are the majority).
To entertain the kids, we mad beaded keychains using colourful beads. The kids had fun making something for themselves, with lots of help from the adults of course....For games, we played passing the parcel with 6 'punishments' ranging from "Bark like a dog 6 times" to "Say Happy Birthday to Yuqi 6 times". It was great fun to see the kids enjoying themselves.
Lastly, we cut the cake, which was in the shape of number 6. With that, we ended the party with a very happy birthday girl and an exhausted mummy.
